Week program

Six days of activities to discover whitewater in all its facets!

PROGRAM

More than a simple breath of fresh air under the Provençal sun during summer, this multi-activity program allows you to explore the Gorges du Verdon in their entirety. The progression is done during the week through various activities which are as many ways to follow the Verdon.
Indeed, the exploration of the Verdon requires different techniques depending on the configuration of the gorges. Thus, we will have recourse to the raft on the navigable portion, then we will progress in aqua-rando (floating and walking) in the gorges, on the non-navigable part.

The flow of the Verdon is regulated by the Castillon dam. In summer, the days of water releases allow rafting and alternate with days of minimum flows allowing aqua-rando to be practiced and thus access the parts of the gorges which are otherwise inaccessible.

The other activities will take place on different sites, such as canyoning in the clue of St-Auban and the adventure course in our forest on the banks of the Verdon, 5 minutes away. of

Planning

Monday: FOREST ADVENTURE ROUTE
Meet at 9:00 am at our office in Castellane (see access map).

Then meet at 9:30 am at our “Adventure Forest” base (see access map), for a forest adventure course.

Welcome of the participants by the monitors of the adventure course in the forest, then handing-over of the equipment and briefing.

Move from tree to tree in a series of varied workshops, from 2 to 12 meters in height. Test your balance on Nepalese bridges, jump with a liana, slide on zip lines, walk on suspended walkways, slip through suspended cans, all in complete safety … All you need to do is put on a harness, follow the instructions and all the fun is yours!

A total of 50 varied and progressive workshops await you among the trees, with two zip lines (80 and 130 m above the Verdon) in the end.

This real forest adventure takes place on an exceptional 3 ha site. of pines and deciduous trees, and bordered by cliffs overlooking the Verdon.

Tuesday: RAFTING on Moyen-Verdon

Meet at 9:30 am at our “Adventure Forest” base for an accompanied rafting descent of the Verdon.

Reception of participants by ABOARD Rafting guides, then delivery of equipment and briefing for a raft descent of the Verdon, from “Adventure Forest” to the Samson Couloir, approximately 22 km and 4 hours of navigation.

The first part is easy; it allows you to learn how to handle this boat smoothly. You come across class II rapids (easy, see rapids classification), then the Barre St. Jean rapids are in sight. This fast ranked III (medium difficulty) requires more maneuvers than you have experienced so far …

After this emotional moment, it’s time to take a break for lunch by the river.

Navigation towards the entrance to the Gorges resumes at the start of the afternoon. Between the first rapids (classified II), we have plenty of time to admire the work of erosion on the impressive limestone cliffs.

La Dégoulinante, a wave train full of sensations, awaits you soon. The Solitaire rapid – the steepest and fastest of the entire descent – will mark the end of the day. Return to Castellane by bus.

Participants can start the descent in the morning as desired, either at 9:30 am or 11:30 am; this lasts 2 hours. The afternoon section begins at 3:30 p.m. During the lunch break, you can return to Castellane, or have a picnic on the beach after having collected your personal effects; in this case, please bring your picnic.

Wednesday: AQUA-RANDO in the Verdon

Meet at 9:00 am at our Adventure Forest base where ABOARD Rafting guides await you. From there, we will take you with an ABOARD Rafting mini-bus to the Samson corridor (20 min. Drive).

This aqua-rando outing will allow us to explore the Verdon which will start at “Solitaire” and finish after “les Labyrinthes”.

Equipped with a wetsuit, a helmet and a life jacket, we let ourselves be carried by the current while floating and swimming. We return to the shores each time it is necessary to walk around an obstacle (congested rapids, siphons).

We jump, swim, or walk in the clear water so that nothing is lost of the magnificent landscape that awaits us.

This is undoubtedly the most appropriate technique for discovering the natural beauties hidden at the bottom of the Verdon gorges. We find the Samson corridor belvedere after about 20 minutes of walking.

Thursday: CANO-RAFT on the Var

Meet at 9:00 am at our Adventure Forest base where ABOARD Rafting guides await you. From there, we will take you with a mini-bus (40 min. Drive).

If you wish to go directly to the Var (and visit the region: the fortified city of Entrevaux, the Daluis gorges, etc;), we will meet you at 10:00 am at the old station of the Gueydan bridge (see access map).

Reception of participants by ABOARD Rafting guides, then handing-over of equipment and briefing for a descent of the Var by cano-raft from the Gueydan bridge to Entrevaux (approximately 7 km and 1h30 of navigation).

This course dotted with small class II rapids lends itself well to cano-rafting.

As you descend, you will have plenty of time to learn how to handle this two-seater boat, thanks to the advice provided by the guide who accompanies you in his own boat.

The end of the course is punctuated by a beautiful rapid at the foot of the beautiful city of Entrevaux.

Friday: CANYONING in St Auban

Meet at 9:30 am at the Clue de St. Auban (see access map).

This very aquatic canyon is characterized by many jumps and slides, which gives it a very playful aspect.

The activity begins with a presentation of the environment and an introduction to rappelling techniques.

After being equipped, we enter the canyon by a first slide. Then, a first jump of 5 meters awaits us between the steep walls of the canyon.

A series of descaling and jumps brings us to the top of a waterfall that we will bypass on a 40 m zip line, stretched from one bank to the other.

Other jumps (6 and 7 m. For the highest) will take us from basin to basin to the last slide.

At the exit of the canyon, a short return walk (10 min.) Will bring us back to the vehicles left on arrival.

All jumps are optional and can be rappelled.

NB: Possibility to practice hydrospeed on Friday afternoon for participants who wish (supplement: 45 Euros./p.). Activity to be scheduled as soon as you register.

Saturday: CANYONING in the Riolan

Meet at 9:00 am at the Clue de St. Auban (see access map).

The ABOARD Rafting guide will welcome us and organize a shuttle to drop off vehicles when arriving at the canyon.

The Riolan is a magnificent canyon whose very aquatic descent is mainly done by swimming in sometimes very narrow meanders opening onto large basins or slipping under large boulders.

A good number of jumps (maximum 8 m.) – optional – and some abseils (maximum 15 m.) Will intersect the swimming passages.

The canyon is formed in places by impressive limestone walls measuring up to 300 m. high, and we have the surprise of a toboggan which is sure to give us thrills!

End of the program, it’s time to say goodbye with memories in your head …
