Planning of the day

Two activities for a day of leisure in the Verdon

The flow of the Verdon is regulated by the Castillon dam.

In spring, water releases take place on a regular basis on weekdays.

In summer, the days of water releases allowing rafting take place mainly on Tuesdays and Fridays (but never on weekends !!!).

In autumn, the frequency of water releases is regular again, EDF often releasing water during the week, but more rarely on weekends.

During these dam release days, we offer you a day of leisure, accessible to all (from 8 years old).

The activities proposed during this day take place on the same site, 5 minutes away from Castellane where our ABOARD Rafting base and our Adventure Forest adventure course are located. You therefore do not have to move during the day (the return of the rafting descent is provided by our shuttles) and you can picnic quietly on our base in the middle of a 3ha forest.

Morning: Rafting

Meeting at 9:30am at our “Adventure Forest” base (see access map)

Welcome of the participants by the rafting guides, then delivery of the equipment and briefing for a descent of the Verdon in raft, down to our beach “La Pinède” (approximately 8km and 1:30hs of navigation).

The first part is easy; it allows a gentle initiation into the handling of the raft. Then we cross rapids increasing difficulty with, as a final, the famous Barre St. Jean (class III rapid: medium difficulty) (see the rapids’ classification), the climax of this descent.

The passage of this rapid made, we will join the beach of “La Pinède”, arrival point of this descent.

After being unequipped, we will return to our “Adventure Forest” base by bus.

Meet at 9:00 am at our “Adventure Forest” base near Castellane (see access map) where the ABOARD Rafting guides await you. From there, we will take you with an ABOARD Rafting mini-bus to the Samson corridor (20 min. Drive).

This aqua-rando activity will allow us to explore the Verdon starting at the “Solitaire” and ending at “les Labyrinthes”.

Equipped with a wetsuit, a helmet and a life jacket, we let ourselves be carried by the current while floating and swimming. We return to the banks each time it is necessary to get around an obstacle on foot (congested rapids, siphons).

We will jump, swim, or walk in clear water in order not to lose anything of the magnificent landscape.

It is undoubtedly the most appropriate technique to discover the natural beauties hidden at the bottom of the Gorges du Verdon. We’ll find the Samson corridor belvedere after about 20 minutes of walking.

Meet at 2:00pm at the “Adventure Forest” trail.

Move from tree to tree on a serie of varied workshops, from 2 to 12 meters height. Test your balance on Nepalese bridges, jump with a liana, slide on ziplines, walk on suspended walkways, slip through suspended cans, all in complete safety … All you need to do is put on a harness, follow the instructions and all the fun is yours!

A total of 50 varied and progressive workshops await you among the trees, with two zip lines (80 and 130 m above the Verdon) in the end.

This real forest adventure takes place on an exceptional 3ha site, between pines and deciduous trees, and bordered by cliffs overlooking the Verdon.
